Alumni Affairs Department at the Arab American University Deanship of Students Affairs, organized introductory workshop about LinkedIn, the world’s first professional communication website, by University lecturer in the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Ahmed Aways in presence of dozens of university students.
At the beginning, Dr. Belal Al-Ashqar, Head of Alumni Affairs department, welcomed Dr. Ahmad Aways. Stressing, it’s important to have an account on LinkedIn for job seekers. It’s necessary to deal professionally with this important site not only to look for work but to develop skills and gain experience.
Dr. Ahmad Aways explained that LinkedIn is the first website for professional communicating where we can present our experiences for others professionally. We advises upcoming graduates to use LinkedIn to find jobs. Stressing, opportunities will jump when we became more capable to present our skills and experiences on it, as many companies around the world announces their vacancies on it.
To introduce LinkedIn’s significant important as personal marketing tool in job market, Dr. Aways gave a set of advices helping to build a strong profile. Starting with using professional picture then how to write the title, account owner’s goal, the summary including work experiences, skills and recommendations, and finally documenting training courses, certificates and volunteer experiences
