Arab American University Hosts Professor from Dublin University to Talk About Civil Society Role in Developing Peace Process

Arab American University Ramallah campus hosted Dr. Brandon Brown from Dublin University in Northern Ireland, to discuss civil society role in policy-making that helps achieving the peace process, with Conflict Resolution and Development Master Students.

From the lecture on civil society role in improving the peace process

At the beginning, Civil Society and Social Movements course lecturer in the Master of Conflict Resolution and Development Program at the University Dr. Nahed Habiballah welcomed the guest and talked about social movements’ importance in Palestinian civil society.

Dr. Brown gave an explanation on Northern Ireland conflict history and talked about the conflict cause on the Irish Island, parties division, discussed ongoing challenges and their impact in consolidation the region’s unstable peace process.

During the lecture, students discussed the civil society and social movements’ role in creating the needed environment to improve the peace process.
