Hassib Sabbagh Center at Arab American University Launch GoCode Initiative to Teach Programming for Non-Programs

Hassib Sabbagh Center for Information Technology Excellence at the Arab American University launched the GoCode initiative to teach programming for non-programmers, in partnership with Glow Innovations foundation and education directorates in Jenin, Qabatiya and Tubas.

The initiative targets 60 students from the 8th, 9th and 10th grades from Jenin, Tubas and Qabatiya schools to teach them basic programming as well as the skills of working in a team and present ideas and projects. During a summer camp organized by Hassib Center at Arab American University campus.

It will include a number of topics like HTML5, CSS and JavaScript, which are given by instructors who graduated from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University. Special educational materials and applications were developed for the participants’ age group.

Students were selected after interviews with a specialized committee. Then they were divided into groups, each working on a project based on solving a community problem in parallel with training sessions.
