A delegation from Mercy Corps Global Agency visited the Arab American University to discuss cooperation. University VP for Academic Affairs Dr. Zaki Saleh welcomed them.
Mercy Corps delegation visiting the Arab American University to discuss cooperation
The delegation included Director of Planning and Programs at Mercy Corps International Foundation Kara Kroot Singer and the foundation Program Officer Rand Safi in presence of the Arab American University President Advisor Dr. Moath Sabha, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Mohammad Hamarsheh and Director of Hassib Sabbagh Center Mr. Alaa Hattab.
University Vice-President for Academic Affairs Dr. Saleh, welcomed the visiting delegation and conveyed the greetings of University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, and gave a detailed explanation of the university, its faculties and academic programs. Stressing, it’s important to cooperation with international institutions, especially in students support matters.
Both, University President Advisor for universities classification Dr. Moath Sabha and Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology Dr. Mohammed Hamarsheh, explained the academic programs at the university, focusing on extracurricular activities that contribute to refine the students' personality and build their abilities. Mentioning, the university’s resources to enhance entrepreneurship through Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology and Hassib Sabbagh Center in cooperation with supporting institutions.
In turn, Director of Planning and Programs at Mercy Corps International Kara talked about the foundation. Noting, it’s a non-profit, working in the field of development projects with youth and technology sectors. Explaining, the visit aims to identify the university and discuss ways of cooperation on mechanism of dealing with young people regard the technological sector, develop their marketing skills, establish an organization to carry out various activities in entrepreneurship using technology and introducing youths to self-employment mechanism through Internet.
At the end, the two parties decided to hold another meeting to discuss mechanism of supporting students through arranging specialized training courses in entrepreneurship and information technology to encourage them to carry out private and free businesses through Internet.
By end of visit, the visiting delegation toured the university faculties and facilities.
