The University Hosts the Third Sciences Conference (Researchers – Sponsoring & Empowering)

The Arab American University hosted the 3rd sciences conferences entitled “Research Students – Sponsoring & Empowering”, organized by the Directorate of Education at Qabatya to review a number of researches and innovations for schools’ students.

The conference was attended by the Vice President of the University Dr. Nizam Diap representing the University President Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri, Director General of Educational Supervision in the Education Ministry Dr. Shahinaz Alfar representing the Minister Dr. Sabri Sidem, Head of the Directorate of Education and Higher Education in Qabatiya Mr. Mohammad Mousa, the conferences preparing committee members, a group of deans of faculties, professors and principals, and participating students in developing the researchers, scientific creations, and their supervising teachers.

The University President Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri welcomed the participating delegation in the conference and stressed its importance, which was titled “Researcher Students– Sponsoring and Empowerment.” He said, “We as Palestinians are in need of practical and effective implementation of the conference's title by embracing researchers. The Arab American University opens its laboratories and putting all its resources to serve the education directorates and school students to promote this remarkable process,” he added.

The VP of the University Dr. Diap, started the conference by welcoming the attendees and conveyed the greetings of the President. He stressed that the Arab American University is a research center and incubator for adults and young researchers, and it’s one of the most important Palestinian universities that gives great importance to scientific researchers by allocating annual financial budget to support researchers from its faculty members and outstanding students. Adding the university encourages scientific research and because its aware that it's the basis of the renaissance of societies and the basic building blocks of civilizations, has established a scientific journal that is universally recognized and occupies a distinguished position at the Arab and regional levels. Where a group of Palestinian researchers from different universities and in various vital fields each provides its scientific output, which is supported and encouraged by the management of the university.

In his speech, the Head of the Directorate of Education and Higher Education in Qabatiya Mr. Musa said: “The Palestinian curriculum is unique and simulates the mind. Today, we see this in the presence of a group of young researchers from schools’ students who came with research and innovations dedicating their time and effort to research. These students, like hundreds of others in various governorates of the country, need to support and stand by their side continuously. The Responsibility here lies upon everyone because students are our top priority”.

He also addressed the achievements of the Directorate of Education in Qabatiya, saying “Our great thank is to the Arab American University professors and lecturers, who judged the student's creative research projects. As a directorate we’ll continue working with them and others because we’re carrying a message, and scientific research will one day become a method and a solid approach in our educational process”, he said.

As for her, the Director General of Educational Supervision at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education Dr. Al-Far conveyed Minister Sabri Sidem greetings. She said “His Excellency sent you the message that he’s proud of you, proud of the students and their supervisor teachers, and grateful for the Directorate of Education in Qabatiya’s efforts. Adding, what I see today from students’ research and innovations is a matter of pride, the fact they were able with the guidance of their teachers, supervisors, and managers to transfer their education into reality, knowing they enabled them to become thinkers, analysts, and for those seeking to resolve them. Today it’s in all our schools, there are dozens of young researchers, and we seek to raise the number to hundreds of thousands of researchers, the energies we see encourages us to follow this dream.”

She stressed that the Palestinian syllabi are distinguished, by international testimonies, and that our qualitative curriculum support research, activities, thinking, learning and the use of technology.

During the conference, the students reviewed their research and talked about their steps to achieve it, the obstacles they faced, the research results and their usefulness to humanity, and applied mechanisms to solve the problems.

The participants reviewed the scientific posters, after that the came the conference sessions. The first session moderated by Mr. Marwan Hantouli, where the students from Silat Al-Dahir Secondary School for Boys, Silat Al-Dahir Girls Secondary School, and Raba’ Girls High School presented scientific papers entitled “My Chromosomes Made Me Different,” “Turn Your Plastic Into Something New,” and “Nature’s Treasures.

Ms. Ghadeer Khalaf moderated the second session, where students of Silat Al-Dahir Girls Secondary School, Girls of Kufur Ra'i Secondary School, and Western Qabatiya Girls High School presented researches entitled “The Gallstone Connection to the Drinking Water Characteristics”, “Seedlings from the Nature Creates Life, Again”, and “Vinegar Effect in Resisting Plants Drought”.

In the third and final session, moderated by Mr. Kamal Juma, the students of the Western Qabatiya Girls High Schools, the students of Western Qabatiya Boys Elementary, and the Silat Al-Dahir Girls Elementary presented researches entitled; “Silent Killer”, “Recycling Cotton Clothes and Use them in Modern Agriculture” and “Study on the Anti-fungal Aromatic Oils Derived From Lemon Peel.”
