The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University Holds the first “White Coat” Ceremony

The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University organized the White Coat Ceremony to mark the transition of the first group of the Faculty of Medicine from the stage of learning basic medical sciences to training in hospitals.

This celebration comes as part of the careful and deliberate steps taken by the faculty towards creating a promising and distinguished generation of Palestinian doctors.

AAUP Team Qualifies to Represent Palestine at the GITEX International Exhibition in Dubai

The Arab American University team won its project submitted in the annual Palestine challenge for the Internet of Things and Artificial Intelligence for 2023 to represent Palestine at the GITEX International Exhibition in Dubai.

This came during the announcement of the winning projects by the Al-Nayzak Foundation for Supportive Education and Scientific Creativity, in a ceremony previously held in the city of Ramallah, in partnership with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology, the Supreme Council for Creativity, the Swedish Diakonia Foundation, and the Information Sciences Syndicate. The closing ceremony included an exhibition of a number of creative technological projects from various governorates of the country specializing in artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things.

A Malaysian High Ranking University Honors the Lecturer at AAUP Dr. Mujahed Zayed as One of the Top Five International Ph.D Researchers

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) chose Dr. Mujahed Zayed, a lecturer at the Language Center of the Arab American University, among the top five Ph.D graduates who have presented many research papers and published in peer-reviewed, reputable journals.

Dr. Zayed was selected based on evaluating Ph.D theses, producing research papers, and publication in peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals in addition to university contributions and community leadership.

AAUP and Peer-to-Peer “Dars” Sign a Cooperation Agreement

The Arab American University, represented by the Vice President of the Ramallah Campus, Professor Dr. Mohammad Asia, and the Peer-to-peer “Dars” Company, represented by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Experts Integrated Solutions Company, which invests in the Peer-to-peer “Dars” Company, Eng. Mustafa Salama, signed an agreement of cooperation. This agreement aims to provide job opportunities for outstanding university students through providing support lessons for primary school students to raise their level of academic achievement.

Dr. Asia stated that the agreement represents a pioneering project linking outstanding university students with school students to generate interest. The agreement would also involve students in new experiences and increase their social effectiveness, Prof. Dr. Asia added.

Prof. Dr. Asia continued saying: "This program is consistent with the university's orientation in the areas of community service and scientific research, facilitating the provision of experience and job opportunities for its students, and consolidating their leadership position and effective role."

Defense of an M.A. Thesis by Atta Labib Alsharaf in Intensive Care Nursing

Researcher Atta Labib Alsharaf, a student in the master’s program in intensive care nursing, defended his thesis entitled: Spiritual and Psychological Well-Being, and Quality of Life among Patients Undergoing Hemodialysis Sessions in the West Bank, Palestine.

This study aimed to estimate spiritual well-being, psychological well-being, and quality of life among patients undergoing hemodialysis sessions in the West Bank. This descriptive study examined a random sample of 413 Palestinian patients receiving hemodialysis sessions in eleven centers operating in the West Bank. The questionnaire tool was distributed and the data was collected using the psychological well-being scale, the spiritual well-being scale, and the World Health Organization Quality of Life scale - BREF during the period between March 28 and August 10, 2023.

A Delegation from the International Federation of Occupational Therapy Visits AAUP to View its Medical Laboratories

The President of the International Federation of Occupational Therapy visited the Arab American University to view the occupational therapy program and discuss ways of cooperation between the two parties.

The President of the Union was received by Professor Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, President of the University, and the vice presidents, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, Professor Dr. Mohammad Asia, Dr. Muhammad Amr, Dean of the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, and the occupational therapy staff.

An AAUP Delegation Visits the Daburiya Local Council and the Village Comprehensive School in the Occupied Palestinian Territory

A delegation from the Arab American University visited the Daburiya Local Council and the comprehensive school in the village. The visit aimed at enhancing cooperation, discussing a number of student issues, and introducing the university, its faculties, specializations, academic programs, and medical and service centers.

The university delegation included Dr. Fadi Jumaa, Dean of Student Affairs and Advisor to the University President for Public Relations Affairs, Dr. Main Zakarneh, Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, and the public relations team, Mr. Ahmad Mousa, and Mr. Ahmed Abu Tul. The delegation was received by the chairman of the Daburiya Local Council, Mr. Zuhair Yousfieh, and the council staff, as well as a number of prominent persons in the village.

Student Wahaj Bani Mufleh’s Work Displayed at a Photo Exhibition on the Palestinian Case in France

Wahaj Bani Mufleh, a student at the Faculty of Modern Media at the Arab American University, participated in an exhibition in Paris organized by French photographer Josy Draay entitled “Palestine: Resistance, Dignity, Solidarity.”

The exhibition included 20 carefully selected photographs of Beni Mufleh from multiple areas in Palestine, including Jenin and its camp, Nablus and its camps, and the town of Beita. The photographs were displayed alongside works by photographer Attia Darwish from the Gaza Strip.

The exhibition aims to shed light on the reality in Palestine and highlight the names of distinguished Palestinian photographers in the field of photojournalism. The exhibition was visited by more than 2,000 people interested in photography and the Palestinian case, in addition to a number of prominent figures.

AAUP Concludes the First Session of the International Graduate Summer School Program

The Conflict Studies Research Center at the Arab American University completed its first session of the International Graduate Summer School program, in which a group of postgraduate students of different nationalities and specializations from The New School University of America participated.

The first session, which started in early July of this year, lasted for two months. The program provided the international students with an opportunity to study in Palestine and learn the Arabic language, in addition to enrolling in two courses in the Faculty of Graduate Studies and acquiring credit hours as part of their university studies. The two courses are: Palestinian identity and culture, and the structuralism and culture of the Settler Colonialism in Comparative Perspective.

A student from the Faculty of Sport Sciences at the Arab American University Wins the Gold Medal in the West Asian Karate Championship

The Arab American University student Anas Mustafa Bsharat won the gold medal in the West Asian Karate Championship, which was recently organized in the Jordanian capital, Amman, in which 9 countries participated.

Bsharat is the first Palestinian to win a gold medal. However, participants in previous championships won the bronze and silver medals.
