AAUP Discusses Student Matters with Sakhnin Municipality

A delegation from the Arab American University visited the municipality of Sakhnin in the Occupied Palestinian Territory to discuss student matters, enhance cooperation and discuss a set of ideas for holding joint activities between the two parties. The visit aimed also to introduce the university, its specializations, academic programs as well as research and medical centers.

The university delegation included the Dean of the Faculty of Sport Sciences, Dr. Main Zakarneh, and from public relations, Mr. Ahmed Mousa, Mr. Ahmed Abu Tul, and the two students, Aya Mahajneh, and Ronza Shtewi.

The university delegation was received by the Mayor of Sakhnin Municipality, Dr. Safwat Abu Raya, and the Director of Public Relations in the Municipality, Dr. Ghazal Abu Raya, in addition to members of the People's Committee, the Parents' Board of Trustees in Sakhnin, and the lecturer at the Faculty of Nursing at the University, Dr. Waleed Shalata.

AAUP Graduate Amna Abu Arra Wins an International Award for Documentaries in Morocco

A graduate of the Department of Arabic Language and Media at the Arab American University, Amna Abu Arra, won the Jury Prize at the Cedars International Short Film Festival in the cities of Ifrane and Azrou in Morocco, for the documentary film “The Red Khan” (Al-Khan Al-Ahmar), amid Arab, African and Western competition. This festival comes under the slogan “Multi-nationalism and Variation.” at its 24th session.

The movie "Al-Khan Al-Ahmar" was directed by Abu Arra, where the State of Palestine was represented in the festival, under the supervision of the lecturer in the Department of Arabic Language and Media at the university, Mr. Sudqi Mousa.

AAUP Concludes a First Aid Course for Students of the Faculty of Sport Sciences

The Faculty of Sport Sciences at the Arab American University, in cooperation with the Palestine Red Crescent in Tubas Governorate, concluded a first aid course for 24 male and female students. The course was presented by the ambulance officer of the Red Crescent, Mr. Hassan Foqaha.

The course dealt with how to resuscitate the heart and lungs, dealing with cases of suffocation, dealing with stroke and heart attacks, and sport injuries. The students participating in the course underwent practical and theoretical tests and they were granted a first aid certificate approved by the Red Crescent.

AAUP Holds the Coding with AAUP Competitive Programming Contest

The Faculties of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University held the Coding with AAUP competitive programming contest to select the teams that will represent the University in the PCPC ACM local competition, which is to be held at Al-Istiqlal University for the national universities this year.

The competition comes in line with the vision of the two faculties to represent the University in local and international programming competitions. This year, 25 male and female students participated in the competition, undergoing a distinct test to develop codes and solutions to various programming problems in order to select the distinguished among them to be the teams which will represent the University.

AAUP Launches My E-Government Program

The My e-Government program was launched at the Arab American University by holding its first workshop, organized by Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence in cooperation with the Palestinian Post. The launch of this program is based on the strategic relationship between the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology and AAUP under the slogan "Jerusalem, the Digital Capital 2023".

The e-government services system "E-Services - Hukumati" is an electronic portal for governmental and electronic payment services. This portal enables to request governmental services and pay their fees electronically in a secure manner, which would save time and effort for citizens to obtain the service.

AAUP Hosts the Dentists Union Five-a-side Football Championship

The Arab American University’s Sports Hall hosted the football five-a-side championship of the Dental Association, under the supervision of the Deanship of Student Affairs. Seven teams participated in the championship representing the Dental Association in the governorates of the West Bank and Jerusalem.

The championship comes as a part of the extracurricular activities organized by the Dental Association for the sake of promoting meetings and cooperation between doctors.

Many interesting and competitive matches were played, where the Jerusalem Doctors Association team emerged at a distinguished level and won the title. At the end of the championship, the president and members of the association rewarded the top four ranking winners.

International Medical Education Trust Supports Six Medical Students from the AAUP Faculty of Medicine

The International Medical Education Trust (IMET2000) provided six grants for six students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University in Jenin Campus, at a value of $1000 per student. These scholarships aim at reducing the financial burden on the students’ families in the costs of studying medicine, funded by the Association’s friends and supporters in the United Kingdom.

This support is restricted to medical students in various studying levels in order to encourage them to focus on their studies and improve their results.

The grants were presented in a meeting attended by Dr. Ramiz Zaid, Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Head of the Department of Pathology and Histology at AAUP, the administrative assistant of the association, Alia Al-Tordi, the continuing education officials of the association, Dr. Moataz Daraghmeh and Marah Qatouni, in addition to the students who benefited from the grant.

AAUP Graduates the Participants in the Training Program Entitled "For the Sake of Employment"

Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence at the Arab American University concluded the activities of the training program, entitled "For the Sake of Employment" within the "Universities Lead Entrepreneurship and Innovation" project, targeting university graduates.

During the closing ceremony, the director of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center at the University, Ms. Mays Awwad, graduated the participants and handed over certificates to them. The 5-day training program dealt with creating new job opportunities for graduates and promoting economic empowerment by strengthening support for Palestinian startups and entrepreneurs as well as encouraging innovation through integration between the academic and private sectors and business incubators, and developing graduates’ skills to be productive entrepreneurs.

AAUP and Asal Technology Company Sign an Agreement of Strategic Cooperation and Exchange of Experiences

The Arab American University, represented by the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, and Asal Technology Company, represented by its General Manager, Mr. Murad Tahboub, signed a cooperation agreement. The agreement aims at exchanging experiences and benefiting from the company, and building a strategic relationship, through which Asal Company will open a branch on AAUP campus in Jenin.

The agreement includes building a strategic relationship and joint cooperation, exchanging experiences. To facilitate this, Asal Technology Company opens a branch of on the Arab American University to create a distinguished model based on the integration of the role of the Palestinian private sector with educational institutions in the field of programming and information technology sector in Palestine in addition to joint work to integrate students and graduates of the university into a qualitative work environment.

AAUP Launches the Training Program "For the Sake of Employment" Targeting University Graduates

The Arab American University launched the activities of the training program, for five days, entitled "For the Sake of Employment", targeting university graduates. The training program is held in partnership with the United Nations Development Program / Program of Assistance to the Palestinian People UNDP, and in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, and the Palestinian partner universities, funded by the Swiss Development and Cooperation Agency SDC.

The program comes within the partnership of the Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence at the Arab American University to implement the project of the universities that Lead Entrepreneurship and Innovation.

The program aims, as pointed out by the Director of the Hassib Sabbagh Center, Dr. Mays Awwad, to contribute to creating new job opportunities, and to enhance the economic empowerment of youth and women by strengthening the support provided for Palestinian startups and entrepreneurs.
