Conventional immediate implant placement vs. immediate placement with socket-shield technique in the maxilla, a randomized controlled trial

Project Summary:

Ridge resorption with altered dimension of the alveolar ridge will inevitably occur after tooth extraction with a negative impact on the subsequent implant position, implant restoration, and esthetic result. Despite the several techniques that have been suggested in literature, none of them could counteract this physiologic consequence after tooth extraction. Recently, an innovative technique that maintains a small part of buccal root with immediate implant placement has been introduced with promising results in all aspects. The aim of this randomized controlled trial is to compare the effectiveness of single immediate implants placed conventionally with immediate implants placed with socket-shield technique in maxilla in respect to different aspects.
