Researcher Waleed Deeb Fadl, a student of conflict resolution and development at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University in Ramallah, defended his thesis "Application of Human Security in the Palestinian Refugee Community/ Jenin Refugee Camp and Balata As Case Study".

In his thesis, the researcher pointed to how much the human security concept is applied in the camps that are considered within the Palestinian society. He also highlighted the condition of Palestinian refugees inside the camps and attempts to find solutions to their security problems.

Researcher Areej Waleed Adeeb Shalbak, Conflict Resolution and Development student in the faculty of graduate studies at the Arab American University, defended her master thesis entitled, “Violence among Universities Students: Arab American University as Case Study.”

In her thesis, the researcher highlighted the phenomenon of violence among university students to answer the study’s main questions, namely; the types of violence in the Arab American University, the main reasons behind this phenomenon, and its consequences on the students’ academic achievement and the university.

The researcher concluded in her study that physical violence is the most visible form of violence and there are several reasons behind this phenomenon.

Part of the lecture

The Arab American University Ramallah campus hosted the German expert Christoph Dinkelaker in Media, social networking websites and Middle Eastern Studies in a lecture for students of the Comparative Peace Processes and Peacebuilding course in the Master of Conflict Resolution and Development Program.

The course instructor Prof. Dr. Ayman Yousef, Professor of Political Science and Conflict Resolution at the University, welcomed the German expert. Pointing to the importance of direct face-encounters with national and international expertise, as they have a positive impact on the students' rationality of thinking, broaden their horizons in knowledge and scientific research.
