Researcher Mohammad Rasheed Al-Atrash thesis defense

Researcher Mohammad Rasheed Al-Atrsahs, Commercial Law student at Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis titled “Court Supporting Role for the Jury in International and Internal Arbitration”.

He discussed the court's supportive role to the jury as it’s not considered a corrective or a mere oversight role in case of law violation, it’s a supporting role to arbitral tribunal authorized to adjudicate the dispute. This role is linked to the arbitral dispute in all its stages. Therefore, relationship between the court originally competent to consider the dispute and the arbitral tribunal is complementary relationship, each complements the other according to the rules of law to achieve better justice.

Researcher Abdulrahman Mohammad Nazzal Defense

Abdulrahman Mohammad Nazzal, a Conflict Resolution and Development program student at AAUJ Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended his master thesis titled “Transform the Israeli-Palestinian Conflict through Peaceful Popular Resistance”.

The researcher pointed that the thesis aimed to study the fundamental role of nonviolent popular resistance in transforming the Palestinian-Israeli conflict through every available peaceful mean and tool. He concluded, non-violent resistance have different definitions as international concept. The thesis indicates that there is a deep gap between peaceful resistance in the field on one hand and decision-makers on the other.

Part of Jihan Ahmad Saleh defense

Researcher Jihan Ahmed Saleh, student of the Conflict Resolution and Development Program at Arab American University Faculty of Graduate Studies, defended her thesis on “Jerusalem in the Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations”.

In her thesis, she discussed Jerusalem in the Palestinian-Israeli Negotiations since Madrid Conference in 1991 until the date of writing the study and these negotiations repercussions on Jerusalem’s geopolitical reality and future. Highlighting, local and regional conditions and changes that led Palestine Liberation Organization to join the peace process with “Israel”. Pointing, this study is important for discussing one of the toughest final status issues in the Palestinian-Israeli negotiations.
