AAUP Researchers Participate in the Annual Palestine Forum in Doha

As part of AAUP’s commitment to promoting scientific research and participating in international academic forums, representatives of the University participated in the annual Palestine Forum in its second session 2024, which was held in the Qatari capital, Doha.

The participation included two research papers, the first by Ms. Rola Shahwan, Director of the Library and Archives on the University’s Ramallah campus, and the second was a joint research between Dr. Ayman Yousef, Professor of Political Science at the University, and Mr. Mustafa Sheta, Director of the Freedom Theater and graduate of the Master’s Program in Conflict Resolution and Development, who is currently imprisoned by the occupation.

Dr. Rezeq Salmoodi, Dean of the Faculty of Law at AAUP, Wins First Place in the Legal Scientific Research Award in Human Rights

The Dean of the Faculty of Law at the Arab American University, Dr. Rezeq Salmoodi, won first place in the Legal Scientific Research Award at its first session for 2023 in the field of human rights.

The research project was titled “Guarantees of a Fair Trial in the Weak State: Areas C as a Model”, Dr. Salmoodi stated. In his research project, Dr. Salmoodi touched upon the jurisdiction of the Palestinian judicial control bodies over areas, which are classified “C” according to the Oslo Accords and the obstacles that the Israeli occupation places before the judicial control authorities as they exercise jurisdiction over these areas.

A Student of Molecular Genetics and Genetic Toxicology Master's Program Publishes a Research in a Reputable Scientific Journal

Student Iman Faris, a researcher of Molecular Genetics and Genetic toxicology Master's Program at the Arab American University, published a research article in Frontiers in Genetics (Impact Factor "IF" 4.772) on the Master's Thesis titled: "Genomic analysis of a Palestinian family with inherited cancer syndrome: a next-generation sequencing study", supervised of Dr. Zaydoun Salah and Dr. Nouar Qutob.

The study focused on using the techniques of (Whole Exome Sequencing) to identify the skin cancer-causing mutations in a Palestinian family. The findings revealed a genetic mutation "ERCC2 (p.R683Q)" which was inherited in the family, which may be responsible for causing the skin cancer.  The study sheds light on the importance of studying genetic mutations of cancer patients and their families in Palestine to guide the diagnosis and management for patients and their families.

A Malaysian High Ranking University Honors the Lecturer at AAUP Dr. Mujahed Zayed as One of the Top Five International Ph.D Researchers

Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) chose Dr. Mujahed Zayed, a lecturer at the Language Center of the Arab American University, among the top five Ph.D graduates who have presented many research papers and published in peer-reviewed, reputable journals.

Dr. Zayed was selected based on evaluating Ph.D theses, producing research papers, and publication in peer-reviewed, Scopus-indexed journals in addition to university contributions and community leadership.

An AAUP Research Team Participates in the International Information Technology Conference Entitled “Cybersecurity Challenges for Sustainable Cities”

A research team from the Arab American University participated in the 2023 International Conference on Information Technology, which was held in its eleventh edition at Al-Zaytoonah University in the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

During the conference, master’s students and researchers from the Department of Natural, Engineering, and Technological Sciences at the Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University presented research papers in the fields of data science and cybersecurity. Recently, all accepted papers were listed in the IEEE Xplore digital library. The research papers are entitled as follows:

AAUP Wins Dr. Rashmawi's Award for the Best Research at the Laboratory Medicine Conference

The scientific research team of the Arab American University, including Prof. Dr. Amer Al-Jawabra and Dr. Kamal Al-Damidi, won the Dr. Atallah Rashmawi Award for the best scientific research with the article entitled "Genetic Changes in Leishmaniasis in Palestine", with the participation of another research team from Al-Quds University including Dr. Suhair Iriqat, Dr. Abdul Majeed Nasser, and instructor Hanan Jawabra.

The result was announced during the twelfth international Palestinian conference, which was previously held in the city of Ramallah, under the auspices of the President of the State of Palestine, President Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazen", and in the presence of the Prime Minister and Minister of Health, and more than 2,000 researchers as well as local and international personalities.

Two AAUP Researchers from the Faculty of Medicine Receive an Award for the Best Master's Research in Anatomy in the United Kingdom

The two researchers, Dr. Othman Al Daher and Dr. Asaad Rabie, from the Department of Anatomy and Embryology at the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, received the best research award from the University of Dundee in the United Kingdom, as their research papers were classified as the best thesis for a master's degree in anatomy.

Othman and Asaad are two physicians who hold master’s degrees from the CAHID Center for Anatomy, which is highly ranked in anatomy in the United Kingdom. They are currently working as lecturers at the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, and they were recently rewarded by the University of Dundee on the occasion of their merit for the best thesis for obtaining a master’s degree in anatomy.

AAUP Honors Distinguished Researchers and Faculty Members Who Received Academic Promotions

The founder Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab American University, Dr. Yousef Asfour, the University President, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the Dean of Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Awad, honored the distinguished researchers who published research papers in reputable scientific journals within the Scopus and Clarivate indexing.In addition, the teaching staff who have received academic promotions for the titles of professor and associate professor were honored.

This took place in a ceremony, under the auspices of the Founder Chairman of the University Board of Directors, Dr. Yousef Asfour, organized by the Deanship of Scientific Research at the University Campus in Jenin, with the presence of the University Vice-Presidents, assistants, deans of faculties, heads of departments, directors of administrative offices, and members of the academic and administrative staff.
