Defense of a Master’s Thesis by Mohammad Shubaita in the Data Science and Business Analytics Program

Researcher Mohammad Zuhdi Shubaita, a student in the Master’s program in Data Science and Business Analytics, has defended his thesis titled “Two-Steps Approach for Breast Cancer Detection and Classification Using Convolutional Neural Networks and mammography images”.

This thesis presents an integrated two-step learning framework that uses deep learning to simplify and increase the accuracy of the breast cancer diagnosis process. This innovative methodology differs from traditional methods by using raw, unmarked X-ray images, and this would facilitate the pre-treatment phase.

الجامعة توقع مذكرة تفاهم مع جامعة Texas A&M في قطر لتعزيز فرص الطلاب في مجال الهندسة

Arab American University has signed a memorandum of understanding with Texas A&M University in Qatar with the aim of enhancing opportunities for students and faculty members in the field of engineering. The agreement was signed under the supervision of Dr. Lana Shehadeh, Director of International Relations at the University, Professor Dr. Hazem Khanfar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, and on behalf of Texas A&M University, Professor Haitham Abu Al Rub, Director of the university Smart Network Center.

This MOU includes an agreement to expand the student exchange program and international opportunities for students and faculty members at the Arab American University. It is expected that this cooperation will contribute to strengthening academic and cultural ties between the two universities as well as exchanging experiences in the field of engineering and technology.

The AAUP Faculty of Medicine Holds a Workshop on Scientific Research Skills for Its Students

The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University has held a workshop on scientific research skills for its students on Jenin and Ramallah campuses with the presence of the Assistant Dean for Clinical Affairs, Dr. Saja Nazzal.

The meeting was inaugurated by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Consultant Neurosurgeon and Spine Surgeon, Dr. Malik Zaben. He pointed out the importance of scientific research and the need for students to possess its skills, especially in the medical field. This would enhance students’ opportunities for specialization and improve the quality of the services they provide to patients.

The Arab American University Signs a Cooperation Agreement with ASTEMIED Company for Medical and Hearing Solutions

In a pioneering step towards developing the education and health services sector, the Arab American University has signed a strategic memorandum of cooperation with ASTEMIED Company for Medical and Hearing Solutions.

The agreement was signed with the presence of the University’s Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, the University’s Vice President for Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Director of Administration and Operations of ASTEMIED Company, Mr. Mustafa Obaidi.

The Arab American University Holds a Training Workshop for Academicians to Raise the Level of Academic Quality

The Arab American University has held an intensive training workshop on its Ramallah campus titled: “Quality in Teaching and Learning”.  The workshop was supervised by Professor Mohammad Asia, Vice President for the Ramallah Campus.

The workshop aimed to improve the skills of academicians at the University for bachelor’s and postgraduate degrees. It also aimed to prepare them to use modern methods in education, evaluate student performance and employ technology in education. This is to reach high-quality educational outcomes in all programs offered by the University.

The Arab American University Holds an Activity for People with Special Needs

The Office of the Assistant to the President for Community Affairs has held a rehabilitation activity and initial screening for people with special needs at the Palestinian Red Crescent Society in Tubas Governorate. The activity was held in cooperation with the Palestinian Pioneer Scouts and Guides Association.

The activity was inaugurated with a welcoming speech by Ms. Maha Salama, with the presence of Dr. Laila Herzallah, Assistant to the President for Community Affairs, Dr. Rima Daraghmeh, Chairman of the Association, Mr. Mohammad Jamil Sawalmeh, Vice President of the Palestinian Scouts Association, Joseph Lambros, a member of the administrative staff, Dr. Wafa Al Sa’adi as well as a number of families and specialists.

The AAUP Faculty of Medicine Concludes the “Clinical Research Education” Program in Cooperation with the International Medical Education Association

The Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, in cooperation with the International Medical Education Association, concluded a series of lectures on the “Clinical Research Education” program.

The first lecture of the “Clinical Research Education” program was held via Zoom platform, and was moderated by Dr. Malik Zaben, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University. He welcomed the attendees and thanked them for their interest in participation. He also thanked the International Medical Education Association for the endless support and services it provides in Fields of health care in Palestine.

The Arab American University Signs an Agreement with Budapest Metropolitan University

As an important step towards strengthening international collaboration, the Director of International Relations at the Arab American University, Dr. Lana Shehadeh, met with the Deputy Head of Mission of the Hungarian Representation, Ms. Krisztina Toth to discuss and activate the memorandum of understanding signed with Budapest Metropolitan University.

This initiative is a response to the efforts of the Arab American University to enhance international collaboration, with the aim of expanding opportunities for exchanging students and employees between the two universities.

Dr. Shehadeh said: “This memorandum reflects the University’s commitment to enhancing international collaboration and providing learning and exchange opportunities for our members in an international environment.”

Harvard University Hosts Dr. Dalal Iriqat, Associate Professor at the Arab American University

The Harvard University has hosted Dr. Dalal Iriqat, an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Graduate studies of the Arab American University, to give a significant lecture on the Palestinian case within the “Middle East Dialogues” series. By this, Dr Iriqat becomes the first Palestinian academician to be hosted at Harvard University since the beginning of the war crimes in Gaza.

The lecture was held with the presence and active participation of more than 150 figures from Harvard University, including students and professors. Dr. Iriqat presented the Palestinian narrative in its historical dimension, affirming her rejection for enclosing the October 7th.  She stressed the importance of her participation in the lecture given the great influence of the student community, especially at Harvard University, in making public and foreign policies in the United States of America and around the world.

AAUP Holds a Workshop on Effective Presentation Skills for Its Students

The Department of Arabic Language and Media at the Arab American University has held a workshop for its students on effective presentation skills, presented by life skills trainer Ahmed Al Sadda via Zoom platform.

The Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Education, Dr. Jamal Hanaysheh, said “Effective presentations are important for a person throughout his life, and are a recipe for success in academic, professional and personal life. The University, through these activities, is keen to present graduates to society who possess knowledge and skills and put them on the path to creating their successes and building their country.”
