The accounting department at the Arab American University Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences held a scientific lecture on Value-Added Tax “VAT”, presented by specialists from the Ministry of Finance in presence of a group of students and professors of the department.

The seminar was presented by Mr. Moayad Al-Bustami Director of Value-Added Tax Department – Nablus Branch and departmental directors Mr. Omar Za'al, Prof. Areej Al-Assi and Mr. Mohammad Kabha.

Prof. Dr. Aysar Sussan Dean of the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences welcomed the Ministry of Finance delegation, stressing the importance of cooperation in holding such seminars to serve students and provide them with the newest mechanisms to work in the Palestinian market.

A delegation of Swiss tourists visiting Palestine came to the university as part of their on foot tour which started from Nazareth to Bethlehem. The delegation expressed its admiration of the university, its infrastructure and academic programs.

Saidam awarding The Arab American and Al-Najah the accreditation of the Contemporary Public Relations Master Program

President of the Arab American University Prof. Dr. Ali Zidan Abu Zuhri and President of Al-Najah University Prof. Dr. Maher Natsheh received the Contemporary Public Relations Master Program accreditation from the Minister of Higher Education Dr. Sabri Mamdouh Saidam at an official ceremony held at the Ministry's headquarters, in presence of the Undersecretary of Higher Education Affairs Dr. Ehab Al-Qabaj, and the Arab American University Board of Directors Academic Advisor Prof. Dr. Waleed Diap.

During the ceremony, Saidam stressed that this specialization accreditation will help achieving quality service for the two universities students, along with those who will join it from various official and civil institutions. It will ensure improving the public relations in Palestine as it includes several specialized knowledge that’s consistent with the field’s current developments globally.

Part of the competition

The Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology at the Arab American University hosted the 12th National Educational Robotics Competition in Palestine “First Lego League”, entitle “The Water Journey” organized by Thought Foundation in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education and with the participation of the public and private schools teams from Tulkarem, Qalqiliya, Nablus, Southern-Nablus, Qabatiya, Jenin and Tubas.

The First Lego Robotics Competition is one of the most exciting and fast-paced competitions. It’s a combination of education and creativity on one hand and fun and entertainment on the other. It is for the age group of 9-16 years of school students, each team consists of 2-10 students in addition to their coach and supervisor.

Faculty of Law honored the student Manar Haitham Daraghmeh for completing memorizing the Holy Quran, in presence of the faculty students and the Student Council.

Dr. Bashar Daraghmeh, Dean of the faculty, praised Manar’s achievement, pointing that she is an example to follow for her excellence in both her high school studies and university studies.

University VP for Training Affairs Dr. Nitham Diap welcoming the German Academic Exchange Service DAAD representative in Palestine Christena Shtalbook

The Arab American University and German Academic Exchange Service DAAD held a lecture to introduce the foundations offered scholarships for graduate studies at German and Jordanian university, attended by the University VP for Training Affairs Dr. Nitham Diap, a number of the administrative and faculty members and university students.

Dr. Diab started the lecture by stressing on the relationship between the university and the DAAD Foundation in the area of offered scholarships to university students and its teaching and administrative staff to complete their postgraduate studies in German and Jordanian universities. Noting that the university, its employees and students benefit annually from these scholarships in many distinguished strategic disciplines, as well as research visits.

From the high school students’ orientation tour

About 3000 high school students benefited from the orientation day activities organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and hosted by the Arab American University in its sports hall, with the participation of the Palestinian universities.

15 universities and colleges participated in the Orientation day. The students of the 90 schools from the Education Governorate in Jenin, Qabatya, Tubas are along with students from the Ramallah, Bethlehem, Salfet and Nablus schools.

From the training course

The Faculty of Nursing at the Arab American University in cooperation with the General Administration of Nursing at the Palestinian Health Ministry organized a training course for public and private hospitals nurses to increase their knowledge of the latest developments in nursing of intensive care, patient diagnosis and the way to treat them.

28 nurses from the Jenin Governmental Hospital, Tubas Governmental Hospital, Tulkarim Governmental Hospital, Qalqiliya Governmental Hospital, Rafidia Hospital and Nablus Specialist Hospital participated in the training.

The four-day intensive training course lasted 8 hours a day. The first assessment was for intensive care patients, special and critical patients, ECG reading and blood gases, treating patients who suffer from lack of salts and respiratory patients, and advanced artificial respiratory care.

The Arab American University VP for Administrative and Financial Affairs Mr. Faleh Abu Arra welcomed a delegation from the Arab Islamic Bank, which visited the university to discuss ways of developing cooperation between the two in areas of mutual interest.

The delegation included Chairman of the Arab Islamic Bank Board of Directors Dr. Ateef Alawneh, the Director General of the Bank Mr. Hani Nasser, the Bank Branches Manager Mr. Nitham Al-Zamil and Head of Jenin Branch Mr. Mohammed Zakarneh.

During the meeting, Mr. Abu Arra welcomed the visiting delegation, stressing on the university philosophy and vision that’s based on building strong relations with local and international institutions as a recognition of the partnership and communication importance for the students and local community.
