The Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in AAUP Visits Medical Organizations in Bethlehem to Discuss Training Opportunities for Prosthetics Program Students

A Delegation from the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences in Arab American University including Dr. Mohammad Amr- The Dean of the Faculty, faculty members, staff of the Public Relations Department and some students from the Prosthetics program visited the Military Medical Services and Life Gate Foundation in Bethlehem to understand their experience in manufacturing prosthetics, exchange experiences, discuss future collaboration relations and discuss collaboration opportunities in training students of the Prosthetics department.

The delegation had a tour in the departments of the Military Medical Services and Life Gate Foundation and watched how artificial limbs are being made and how to deal with people in need for those parts. In addition, the delegation discussed how to exchange experiences in this field especially that Arab American University will be finishing soon from building the largest laboratory to manufacture of artificial limbs in Palestine in order to train the students of the department and fulfill the needs of the artificial limbs in Palestine.

AAUP Announces the Start of a New Bachelors Program in Prosthetics and Orthotics Sciences to be the first of its kind in Palestine

AAUP Announces the Start of a New Bachelors Program in Prosthetics and Orthotics Sciences at Faculty of Allied Medical Science, accredit from both Ministries of Education and Health, in addition to the accreditation of the International Organization for Prosthetics and Orthotics Sciences, to be the first program of its kind in Palestine that aims to graduate professionals titled as Senior Specialist.

This program enables its graduates to diagnose the needs of prostheses and orthotics, and to engineer these organs according to each case, based on the knowledge and understanding of the principles of mechanical motion, human body surgery, engineering technology drawings, the designing electronic robotics and manufacturing them in factories, laboratories and clinics provided by the University in order to train the students, and welcoming patients with upper and lower amputations, patients with musculoskeletal disorders, fractures, bone malformations, paralysis of the central nervous system
