The Arab American University and the Istishari Hospital in Amman Sign a Cooperation Agreement to Train Medical Students

As part of its constant efforts to develop the field of medical education, enhance health care, and prepare and qualify medical personnel, the Arab American University and the Istishari Hospital in Amman / Jordan signed a cooperation agreement. This agreement aimed at training medical students enrolled at AAUP on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses. This is for the sake of improving the provision of therapeutic and preventive medical services and preparing as well as qualifying medical staffs.

The Arab American University was represented by the Vice President for the Ramallah Campus, Professor Mohammad Asia, and the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, while the Istishari Hospital was represented by the General Director, Dr. Tariq Al Lawzi, and the Medical Director, Dr. Mahmoud Abu Obeila.

The scope of the agreement includes accrediting the Istishari Hospital in Amman as an educational and training center for students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University, where qualified and experienced medical specialists will be available for the purposes of education, scientific research and training. Staffs will also be invited to attend workshops, conferences and training courses organized by both parties.

Professor Mohammad Asia stressed the importance of this agreement as an important step towards achieving a strategic partnership with the Istishari Hospital in Amman, emphasizing the University’s commitment to developing medical education and providing high levels of quality. He said: “This partnership comes within our continuous endeavor to develop the academic programs and their practical outcomes inside and outside Palestine.”

In turn, Dr. Malik Zaben pointed out the importance of highly enhancing the skills of medical students to contribute to improving the health services provided to the community, praising the medical staff and expertise working at the Istishari Hospital in Amman and the positive impact it will have on students’ skills.

For his part, Dr. Tariq Al Lawzi praised the reputation of the Arab American University, and stressed that this agreement fulfills the Hospital’s vision of cooperating with distinguished scientific institutions locally and internationally in order to reduce the gap between scientific education and practical training. Al Lawzi emphasized that the agreement will provide students with the opportunity to benefit from the high-level training at the Istishari Hospital in Amman.

It is worth noting that the Arab American University offers a specialization in medicine to its students on its Ramallah and Jenin campuses, and seeks through these agreements to strengthen its position as a leading educational institution in the field of medicine in the region.
