Researcher Malak Shehadeh, a student in the Master’s program in Applied Islamic Finance, defended her thesis titled: “Sharia Supervision Governance in Islamic Banks as Perceived by the Banks’ Senior Management.”
The study aimed to identify the governance of Sharia supervision in Islamic banks as perceived by the banks’ senior management. This is to ensure that Islamic banks continue to adhere to honesty and legality in their activities and transactions, which achieves remarkable success for them in all profitability rates and in all fields.
The researcher recommended the necessity of spreading awareness to all employees in banks about the importance of Sharia governance, highlighting the dangers that may occur when not adhering to it, and striving for good application of governance standards and principles. This is to contribute to achieving transparency and credibility with clients, and to establish a supreme body that partners with a regulatory body, whose mission is to develop an effective system for Sharia supervision governance.
The thesis was supervised by Dr. Abdul Rahman Rayhan. The committee of examiners included: Dr. Bassem Badr and Dr. Sharif Abukarsh.
