The Passing of Daniel Fuller

Monday, December 7, 2009

The faculty, staff, and administration at the Arab American University express their deep sadness and regret at the passing of our very much liked and respected colleague Dan Fuller. Our thoughts and great condolences go out to his family in Britain as well as everybody who knew him.

Dan arrived at the ELC from Britain at the beginning of this semester and was teaching Beginner and Intermediate classes. He was very much liked and respected by his students and enjoyed teaching. He was very pleased to have been able to come to Palestine. He loved traveling, meeting people and learning more about Palestine and the Palestinian culture.

Dan had also been learning Arabic and was doing very well. He would have progressed well and been almost fluent by the end of his tenure here at AAUJ. He was musical also and played the saxophone.

Everyone who met Dan was very impressed by his extremely gentle, kind and thoughtful nature. He was quiet and only said what was worth saying, and as such people listened when he spoke. He was very dependable, extremely intelligent and had a very funny, dry sense of humor. He was a real pleasure to be around.

The AAUJ community, friends, and students will miss Dan very much and it will be difficult to walk the campus without Dan around, but we are very sure that his spirit will always be with us.
