Sport Sciences speciality at the Arab American University is the first of its kind in Palestine that concentrate on the current concepts.

The Sport Sciences speciality witnesses a great demand from students of both females and males especially females from the west bank and the lands of 1948, as for the first semester of the Academic year 2014/2015 the number of students was 66 of which 44 males and 22 females as the head of the department Dr. Waleed Khanfar said.

Dr. Khanfar clarified that the sport speciality was unique and started at the university comparing of what the other universities have. The name came to concord with the new concept of the Sport Sciences. He said that students study anatomy, physiology, mobility science, sport social science, teaching methods, the curriculums, sport injuries, sports psychology and other practical and theoretical materials. He mentioned also that the graduate can continue the high studies in one of those specialities


Dr. Khanfar said that there is a huge demand among the Palestinians from the lands of 1948, as the sport speciality at those lands was monopoly just for the Israeli students. And so opening such a program was a great way for the students so they can achieve their ambition. More than 60% of them enrolled in the program and the number is increasing through the coming semesters. This will enable the students to work at the Arabic sector as there used to be a shortage in the staff of this speciality.




It is noteworthy that the university has established a unique sport village on the level of the whole country with international specifications. This village includes a football stadium built with the international FIFA specifications and a multipurpose closed gym with a cost over 10 Million Dollar.
