The Arab American University organized the "Quiz Night" competition, in cooperation with the European Union, within the "You are the Ambassador" program, in which a number of university students participated in an interactive and educational atmosphere.
The competition was inaugurated by the public relations employee at the university, Ms. Samah Dawahdi, with a speech in which she welcomed the attendees, and emphasized the importance of promoting extracurricular activities, which is a strategy followed by the university with the aim of refining the student's behavior. She extended thanks to those in charge of the competition and its organization on the university campus. This competition is the first event to be implemented by the European Union under the coordination of the European Union ambassador to the university, the student Ameer Jallad.
For his part, the Ambassador of the European Union at the Arab American University, Ameer Jallad, expressed his thanks to the university for hosting the competition. He also expressed his pride in representing the university in the European Union. He explained that the competition is an inclusive activity that introduces students to each other and closely informs them of the European Union and its history. It develops sportsmanship when competing with each other. The participants compete in 8 rounds for the participating teams. During these rounds, they answer various questions that are directly related to the countries of the European Union. He also pointed out that "Quiz Night" is a cultural, social, and entertainment competition program that was established in 1996. He added that it is the most permanent competition in Palestine.
"The rules of the competition require the participation of a team of six people, who are asked a variety of non-traditional questions that depend on quick wit at times. The questions depend on the prior information of the participants at other times. They may also be based on the ability to analyze the information presented by the question to conclude the answer”, he added explaining the mechanism of the competition. “The questions include all fields of geography, history, sports, and sciences”.
The student Ameer Jallad was selected through the “You are the Ambassador” program, to be the ambassador of the European Union at the Arab American University after his participation in the competition of the program. More than 650 male and female students from various Palestinian universities applied to participate in the competition. 10 students were selected after passing the required exams and interviews to become ambassadors of the European Union in their universities.
