Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship Program 2025-2026

On behalf of the U.S. Office of Palestinian Affairs , Amideast is pleased to announce the opening of the Fulbright Foreign Student Program competition for academic year 2025-2026.

The Fulbright Program enables Palestinian students to pursue graduate study at a master’s degree level in the United States. Participants also have the unique opportunity to experience life in the United States and share their unique culture and traditions with Americans.

Participants will be selected through an open, merit-based competition in which leadership potential, academic excellence, and the ability to adjust to life in the United States are all considered. Once accepted into the Fulbright Program, every Fulbrighter becomes part of a global network of engaged, dedicated Fulbright alumni.

This program is currently open for applications until May 5, 2024.

The Fulbright Program provides funds for:

  • Tuition and required fees for graduate study or research in the United States;
  • Books, equipment, and travel allowances;
  • Monthly stipend for room and board;
  • Supplemental health and accident coverage plan;
  • Opportunities to participate in Fulbright enrichment seminars.

Applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  • Must be a Palestinian resident of the Gaza Strip, Jerusalem, or the West Bank throughout the application, selection, and placement processes (U.S. citizens or green card holders are not eligible to apply).
  • Must hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution;
  • Must have at least one year of professional work experience AFTER graduation;
  • Must have a strong academic background.
  • Be proficient in English. Candidates who are academically strong but may have slightly weaker English proficiency may be invited to attend a Long-Term English (LTE) program prior to the start of the study program and should be available to participate. 
  • Preference is given to students who have little or no previous experience studying or living in the United States.
  • Persons of all backgrounds, including those with disabilities, are encouraged to apply.
  • A candidate who has resided in the United States for five or more consecutive years in the six-year period preceding the date of application is ineligible for the program.

The application process:

Eligible and interested individuals should submit an online application via https://apply.iie.org/ffsp2025, including the following supporting documents, by no later than May 5, 2024:

  • Official academic transcripts and diploma certificates in English (translated, if not in English);
  • TOEFL or IELTS scores no more than two years old (If available, but not required);
  • An up-to-date CV or resume detailing all prior education and work experiences;
  • Three letters of recommendation in English;
  • A personal statement in English up to 600 words in length;
  • A study/ research objective statement in English relating to proposed field of study and/or research.
  • A copy of applicant’s identification card (ID) and passport. 

Important notes:

  • Applications will be accepted in most fields of study, including the humanities, social science, science, technology, and engineering.  However, master’s programs involving clinical studies – such as medicine, dentistry, pharmacy, and nursing – are not permitted. Interested applicants in these disciplines may only apply for programs like public health or nursing administration programs only.
