The President of the Arab American University, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the Palestinian Minister of Health, Dr. Mai Al Kaila, signed an agreement of joint cooperation between the Ministry and the University to train students of medicine at the university in the facilities of the Ministry of Health.
This agreement aims to train AAUP’s medical students in the clinical stage at the level of the fourth, fifth and sixth years, in the Ministry's facilities (Jenin Public Hospital, Tubas Turkish Public Hospital, Tulkarm Public Hospital).
The Arab American University is building two floors in the Martyr Dr. Khalil Suleiman Public Hospital in Jenin to provide training for students of medical specializations.
The Minister of Health, Dr. Mai Al-Kaila, stated "The joint cooperation with educational institutions aims to enhance the capabilities of students of medical specialties with the necessary practical training, in order to refine their abilities to provide treatment services, and we are always keen to provide what is necessary to develop treatment and care services including the equipment, infrastructure and continuous capacity building."
For his part, the President of the University, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, stressed the importance of the agreement signed between the University and the Ministry of Health, adding that the agreement falls within the complementary role between the two parties, where the University provides medical education for its students and the Ministry provides clinical education and license for students in its health facilities. Dr. Abu Zuhri continued saying that the University works to provide all necessary things to develop students' capabilities and enrich their knowledge in various specialties.
The signing ceremony was attended by the Vice President of the Arab American University for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, the Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Dr. Bara Asfour, the Director of Public Relations, Dr. Fadi Jumaa, and the Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health, Dr. Wael Al-Sheikh, and the Acting Assistant Undersecretary for Medical Affairs of Hospitals and Emergencies, Dr. Moatasem Muhaisen, Advisor to the Minister, Nizar Masalmeh, Acting Director General of Financial Affairs, Mr. Hakim Salahat, Head of the Health Education and Scientific Research Unit, Dr. Abdullah Al-Qawasmi, Head of the Legal Affairs Unit, Mrs. Arwa Al-Tamimi, and Head of the Public Relations and Media Unit, Mr. Anas Al-Deek and the legal advisor, Mr. Nizam Ramadan.
