AAUP Organizes a Research Lecture about Cyber Security

The Faculty of Graduate Studies in Ramallah Campus organized a research lecture about telecommunication Engineering, presented by Professor Manuel Fernández from University of Vigo in Vigo City- Spain through Zoom.

Prof. Manuel discussed the modern encryption systems and post-quantum encryption systems as part of many other topics related to the cyber security.

Graduate Studies students from the Master in Cyber Security and Master in Data Sciences and some researchers and lecturers from the university also attended the lecture.

Dr. Majdi Odeh- the Associate Professor in the Engineering Sciences, technology and nature Department in the Faculty of Graduate Studies stressed on the importance of this lecture and its qualitative addition that it provided to the students and participants.

An Awareness Course about Information Security and Managing Electronic Accounts

The Information Security and Quality Unit in Arab American University organized an awareness course entitled: “Information Security and Managing Electronic Accounts” in the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences for the Management information System students.

The course contained a presentation about the main goals of the Information Security and Quality Unit and the role it does to protect the data and services in the university.

Eng. Mohammad Owaidat talked about some of the awareness concepts of information security, the hacking problems and account protection possibilities and ways, and warned students that they need to protect their passwords and the ways to develop protected accounts in order to keep them away from being hacked.

Arab American University President Dr. Ali Zeidan Abu Zuhri announced the university got the Ministry of Higher Education accreditation for a Bachelor degree in Computer Networks / Minor Information Security, to add a new major to the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

He pointed that specializing in computer networks and information security is one of the most vital and important specializations due to the need to link and connect various organizations and keep the data secured. He explained, Data is the most important component of any system, thus it’s necessary to use every possible means to protect and preserve it.
