Businessman Yasser Mahmoud Abbas Visits AAUP Campus in Ramallah

The Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Arab American University, Dr. Yousef Asfour, received the businessman, Mr. Yasser Mahmoud Abbas, in his office on the University campus in Ramallah. Mr. Yasser visited the University to get acquainted with it and its development plans.

The guest was received by Dr. Asfour, Eng. Anwar Al-Badawi, a member of the University Board of Directors and the Dean of the Faculty of Modern Sciences, Dr. Islam Amro.

For his part, Dr. Yousef Asfour welcomed the guest, and briefed him on the University's development plan and its achievements in the academic, scientific and technological fields. Dr. Asfour touched upon the endeavors and plans pursued by the University in the field of digital transformation, as it was recently announced that the work on the University's digital transformation plan had been completed.

The Director of Erasmus Office in Palestine Visits AAUP

The President of the Arab American University, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, received the Director of the Erasmus Office in Palestine, Dr. Abdul Karim Daraghmeh, who visited the university to see its programs and confirm joint cooperation.

The President of the University, Prof. Dr. Abu Zuhri, welcomed the guest and presented a brief overview of the university’s progress in its academic programs as well as the University’s future vision represented in focusing on the suitability of the majors offered by the University to the needs of the labor market and enhancing academic quality at all levels. For his part, Dr. Daraghmeh expressed his pride in the University, praising the growth and development it has achieved in all fields, including the modern infrastructure and the diversity of facilities supporting the academic process.

Defense of a Doctoral Dissertation by Thanaa Daraghmeh in Educational Administration

Thanaa Daraghmeh, a Ph.D student in the Educational Administration program, defended her dissertation entitled: "The Relationship of Participatory Leadership to Administrative Empowerment and Job Satisfaction in Palestinian Higher Education Institutions as Perceived by Employees and Designing a Proposed Model to Enhance Their Performance".

The research aimed to reveal the degree of practicing participatory leadership in its various aspects, and its relationship to administrative empowerment and job satisfaction in Palestinian higher education institutions from the point of view of the employees. In addition, the research aimed to identify the differences between the averages of the respondents' opinions on the degree of practicing participatory leadership in achieving administrative empowerment and job satisfaction from the workers' point of view.

AAUP Holds a Training Workshop for Nurses on Using Ventilators

The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University organized a workshop targeting nurses working in intensive care units at governmental hospitals and master’s students in nursing specialties at the University to train them on using the ventilator in an ideal way to prevent the development of complications for patients.

The workshop was moderated by Dr. Dina Abu Jaber, a specialist in the field of intensive care and artificial respiration. Dr. Abu Jaber introduced the students to the device, its operation, and the common errors that happen when using it.

AAUP Holds a Symposium on Methods and Mechanisms of Real Estate Valuation and Legal Arbitration Targeting Students of Real Estate Sciences Department

The Department of Real Estate Sciences at the Faculty of Administrative and Financial Sciences at the Arab American University organized a scientific symposium entitled "Methods and Mechanisms of Real Estate Valuation and Legal Arbitration", targeting intermediate diploma students in real estate valuation.

Eng. Wajih Hamarsheh, a real estate appraiser and legal arbitrator, Mr. Mahmoud Kanaan, a real estate appraiser and legal arbitrator, Eng. Ali Al-Essa, a civil engineer, and Eng. Mahmoud Hamarsheh, a civil engineer were all hosted by the faculty.

Hassib Sabbagh Information Technology Center of Excellence at the Arab American University and Safa Bank Discuss Ways of Joint Cooperation

The Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Acting President of the University, received a delegation from Safa Bank. The delegation visited Hassib Sabbagh Information Technology Center of Excellence at the University to discuss ways of joint cooperation between the two parties.

The guest delegation included the Sales Manager in the North, Alaa Abdel Hadi, the Director of Safa Bank, Jenin Branch, Jwan Younes, and the bank staff in Jenin and Ramallah. The delegation was received by the director of Hassib Sabbagh Information Technology Center, Dr. Eng. Mays Awwad.

Dr. Abusaa welcomed the delegation, and stressed the importance of cooperation with financial institutions, in order to provide services to students, indicating that the university opens its doors to all sectors.

AAUP Sends a Group of Medical Students to Participate in the Cambridge Summer School of Neuroscience

In mid-June, a group of medical students from the Arab American University will participate in the Neuroscience Summer School which has annually been organized by the British University of Cambridge for 26 years.

The names of the participating students were announced in a festive atmosphere that brought together the Dean of the Faculty, Prof. Dr. Malik Zaben, the academic staff and the medical students.

Students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University Use the Oxford University Platform for Virtual Reality

As a part of the University’s constant endeavor to provide the Faculty of Medicine with modern technologies and various means of education, an agreement has been concluded with Oxford Medical Education with simulation technology, through the Oxford-Palestine Foundation, to provide students of the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University with licenses under which students can use the Oxford platform for medical education technology in virtual reality.

Experts from the University of Oxford trained the students and the academic staff on the principles of using this platform effectively by holding a workshop via the Zoom platform, with the presence and supervision of the Faculty Deanship.

The Faculty of Graduate Studies at the Arab American University in Ramallah hosted the director of Technology and Operations Department at Quds Bank, Mr. Zaid Jrab, to deliver a lecture on digital transformation in the banking sector in Palestine.

Mr. Jrab discussed the prospects, opportunities and challenges facing the banking sector in the digital transformation process, saying: "The importance of the digital transformation process in this sector lies in facilitating citizens' access to banking services, improving the operational process, completing banking transactions, and the payment and purchasing process quickly." A Painting by the Caricaturist Mohammad Sabaaneh is Displayed in the Corridors of the United Nations

In the corridors of the United Nations and on the seventy-fifth anniversary of the Nakba, a painting by the Palestinian caricaturist and artist Mohammad Sabaaneh, an instructor in the Department of Architecture and Design at the Arab American University, was displayed alongside the works of Palestinian artists Naji Al-Ali, Ismail Shammout, Tamam Al-Akhal, Nabil Anani and Suleiman Mansour.

On the painting, Sabaaneh said: "Months ago, I received an invitation from my friend Majed Bamieh to draw a painting that embodies the Nakba to be displayed at the United Nations. I chose to adapt the famous painting "Guernica" by the artist Pablo Picasso in protest against the German bombarding of Spain, which has become a symbol of war and peace. He added, "I tried to embody the ongoing Palestinian Nakba through digital drawing, and used the blue-gray color to denote the Israeli occupation."
