The Arab American University Wins the Second Place in the Scientific Research Award in the Field of Physical Sciences

Dr. Ahmed Hasasneh, a lecturer at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies and Head of the Data Science Department at the Arab American University, won the second place for the 2022 second scientific research award in the physical sciences field, presented by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research for studies related to the COVID-19 pandemic and its effects.

The researcher was rewarded at a ceremony organized by the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research under the auspices of Prime Minister, Dr. Mohammad Shtayyeh, with the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mowais.

The researcher Hassasna’s paper is entitled “Wearable Devices, Smartphones, and Interpretable Artificial Intelligence in Combating COVID-19”. It was published in the Swiss Sensors Journal, which is listed in the first quarter journals with an impact factor of 3.847.

The Arab American University and Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company Sign an Agreement of Partnership and Strategic Cooperation

The President of the Arab American University, Professor Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Engineer Dr. Mahmoud Al Zalmot, signed an agreement of partnership and strategic cooperation between the two parties. This agreement aims at supporting the efforts paid to find harmony between educational outcomes and the needs of the Palestinian market, as well as adopting initiatives and ideas for pioneering projects that support innovation in Palestine.

The signing ceremony, which was held at Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company’s headquarters in Nablus, was attended by the AAUP Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Dean of the Faculty of Pharmacy, Dr. Hatem Hijaz, and the General Manager of Sama Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing Company, Dr. Adeeb Al Saifi.

The Arab American University in Ramallah Tackles Prospects of Cooperation and Partnership with the Hungarian Budapest Metropolitan University

A delegation from the Hungarian Budapest Metropolitan University visited the Arab American University in Ramallah to discuss prospects of cooperation, academic partnership, and exchange of experiences.

The Hungarian delegation included Vice President of Budapest Metropolitan University for Academic Affairs, Dr. Peter Rida, and his assistant. They were received by the lecturer at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies, Dr. Dalal Iriqat, Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Vice President for Administrative and Financial Affairs, Eng. Bara Asfour, with the presence of the representative of the Republic of Hungary in the State of Palestine, Dr. Chapa Rada.

AAUP Celebrates the Inauguration of the Unique University Medical Rehabilitation Complex in Palestine

Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mahmoud Abu Mowais, representative of the President of the State of Palestine, Mr. Mahmoud Abbas "Abu Mazin", said that "The Arab American University, with its orientation towards modernity, digital, technology, purposeful research, and international partnerships, places itself among the most prestigious international universities in terms of classifications and awards. It also has a prominent presence in the prestigious international databases”.

This took place during the celebration of the Arab American University, under the auspices of the President of the State of Palestine, Mahmoud Abbas Abu Mazin, for the inauguration of the University Rehabilitation Medical Complex, which is the one of its kind in Palestine, in addition to the inauguration of the Faculty of Modern Medicine building and the Prosthetic Limbs Factory, which is the first of its kind in the Middle East.

AAUP Faculty of Medicine Obtains the Membership at the International Association for Medical Education (AMEE)

The Arab American University declared that the Faculty of Medicine has obtained membership in the International Association for Medical Education (AMEE), located in Dundee, Scotland, United Kingdom. In this case, it is the first Faculty of Medicine in Palestine to obtain membership in this association. This association encompasses more than 90 Faculties of Medicine from different Countries of the world.

AMEE seeks to improve medical professions education around the world, develop teaching methods, support innovation in curriculum planning and teaching, and encourage research in the field of medical professions education.

AAUP Ranks Second in Palestine in the Global GreenMetric Ranking

The Arab American University ranked second in the GreenMetric ranking for 2022 at the level of Palestinian universities. It also ranked 315 in the world.

The GreenMetric classification is the most important in the field of green sustainability for universities in the world. It classifies universities based on their commitment to environmental sustainability and climate change, their investment in renewable energy, the management of water resources on campus, and their research production that is consistent with the sustainable development goals approved by the United Nations.

A Research Team from the Faculty of Medicine at AAUP Publishes a Scientific Research on a Rare Genetic Disease in Palestine in the Peer-Reviewed Scientific Journal Frontiers in Genetics

A research team from the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University published a scientific research in the scientific journal Frontiers in Genetics, which is indexed Q2 in Scopus database, with an impact factor of 4.78.

The team included Dr. Imad Dweikat, a consultant pediatrician and metabolic diseases, and Dr. Reham Khalaf Nazzal, a researcher in human genomics and neuroscience. The study focused on the clinical results, the results of chemical analyses, and the genetic mutations that cause the rare genetic disease,

Hyperornithinemia, Hyperammonemia, and Homocitrullinuria Syndrome, according to the study, affects at least 200 patients worldwide.

Dr. Majdi Owda, Holder of the UNESCO Chair in Data Science, is a Guest at The Hague University of Applied Sciences

The Hague University of Applied Sciences hosted Dr. Majdi Owda, Dean of the Faculty of Data Science at the Arab American University and holder of the “UNESCO Chair in Data Science for Development” to give a lecture on the positive and negative effects of governments adopting an open data policy.

Dr. Owda tackled the positive effects. He indicated that this policy would encourage entrepreneurship in countries, enhance cooperation between the components of the public sector, and raise the level of transparency and people’s trust in governments, in addition to its contribution to improving the quality of decisions that are taken.

The Arab American University Participates in the International Conference to Celebrate the 30th Anniversary of the Twinning of UNESCO University and Chairs Program

The Arab American University participated in the international conference to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the Twinning of University and Chairs Program of the United Nations Educational, Scientific, and Cultural Organization "UNESCO", which was held at the organization's headquarters in the French capital, Paris. It was entitled "Transforming Knowledge for a Fair and Sustainable Future".

This participation comes within the efforts of the National Committee to network between holders of "UNESCO" chairs in Palestine and their counterparts from various countries of the world. It also comes within the framework of its endeavor to expand the scientific presence of Palestinian higher education institutions in "UNESCO" by creating more scientific chairs in Palestinian universities in the fields that are specialized within the sectors of work and interests of "UNESCO".

AAUP Participates in the First International Conference on Medical Imaging

The Arab American University participated in the First International Conference on Medical Imaging. The university was represented by Dr. Samer Mhanna, Head of the Medical Imaging Department at the University, and Dr. Mohammad AlJamal, Lecturer at the Faculty of Allied Medical Sciences, who was the Conference Chairman of the Scientific Committee.

Dr. Mhanna delivered a lecture entitled “Medical Imaging Technology Where it Headed Future Vision”. He discussed the latest developments in the field of medical imaging. He indicated that the university has a role in developing its programs to keep pace with all that is new.

Tala Noaman Barakat, student in the Department of Medical Imaging, also participated in a poster entitled “AWARENESS ON RADIATION PROTECTION DEVICES AMONG DENTAL STUDENTS”. Her work won a financial prize at the conference.
