Two AAUP Students Win in the Scientific Conference of Postgraduate Students 2022

The Arab American University won two awards at the Palestinian Scientific Conference of Postgraduates 2022, which was organized by the Islamic University of Gaza.

The MA student in "Contemporary Public Relations", Baraa Abed and her supervisor, Dr. Elias Kukali, won the best research award in the Humanities and Social Sciences field for her research paper entitled "Exploring the Causal Links Between Locus of Control and Functional Performance Among Public Relations Practitioners in the Government Service Sector: A Track Analysis.”

The study sought to measure the indirect effect of causal links, such as (financial incentives, powers granted by senior management, and the quality of the relationship with the leader) as intermediate variables between locus of control as an independent variable and job performance as a dependent variable for public relations practitioners in the government service sector.

AAUP Faculty of Medicine Receives a Delegation from the British Family Medicine Institute to Discuss Cooperation

A delegation from the British Family Medicine Institute visited the Faculty of Medicine at the Arab American University. The visit aims to discuss cooperation between the two parties and implement a group of medical programs.

The visiting delegation consisted of Paul Wallace, Thirsy Zink from the British Family Medicine Institute, and Maha Al-Khateeb, Director of Medical Aid Programs for the Palestinians. They were received by the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, Dr. Imad Dweikat, Deputy Dean, Dr. Omar Sadeq, Head of the Physiology and Pharmacology Department, Dr. Reham Nazzal, Head of the Department of Pathology and Pharmacology, Dr. Ramez Zaid, and Head of the Department of Anatomy and Embryology, Dr. Emad Abu Alrub.

Two Researchers from the University Discover a method to Diagnose Disorders and Skin Diseases Using Millimeter Wave Sensors

Two researchers from the Arab American University have come up with an innovative method for non-invasive diagnosis of skin diseases and disorders without the need for healthcare professionals or a medical clinic.

This study is considered the first of its kind. The innovative method of the two researchers from the Arab American University, Dr. Amani Owda, Head of the Department of Engineering, Natural, and Technological Sciences at the Faculty of Graduate Studies, and co-researcher Dr. Majdi Owda, Dean of Faculty of Data Science, is based on diagnosis by measuring millimeter waves that emerge from human skin and produce invisible signatures that contribute to inferring the health of the skin.

Two Academicians from the University Win the “Arab American University Award for Excellence in Scientific Research for 2022”

Two academics from the Arab American University, Prof. Dr. Atef Qasrawi, and Prof. Dr. Hazem Khanfar, won the "Arab American University Award for Excellence in Scientific Research for 2022". The names of the winners of this award for the current year were announced by the Deanship of Scientific Research at the university.

The Dean of Scientific Research at the Arab American University, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Awad, said that researchers from Palestinian universities competed for the award. They presented scientific research in the fields of natural Sciences, engineering and technological sciences, medical and health sciences, and social and human sciences. He explained that after examining the nomination applications for the award and evaluating them from a specialized committee, it was decided that two papers from each category would win.

The University Participates in a School Visit to the Higher School of Technology at the Canadian University of Quebec

The Head of the Data Science Department at the Arab American University, Dr. Ahmad Hasasneh, made a two-month scientific research visit to the Higher School of Technology (ETS) at the University of Quebec in Canada, funded by the Palestinian-Quebec Science Bridge, which is supervised by the Palestine Academy of Science and Technology (PALAST).

Regarding the research visit, Dr. Hasasneh confirmed that it dealt with the preparation of a research proposal that will be jointly implemented by the Arab American University and the University of Quebec in Montreal, Canada, on developing a system based on diagnosing infant crying in order to early identify the diseases they suffer from, based on advanced machine learning algorithms. , and use the built-in features of vocal crying signals.

The University Signs a Memorandum of Understanding with the Information Technology Syndicate

The Arab American University in Ramallah signed a memorandum of understanding with the Technological Information Syndicate. This comes within the framework of the university's endeavor for networking and to enhance cooperation with all syndicates, with the aim of providing better services to students after graduation through the union which represents them.

During the signing ceremony, Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, the university president, said, “The agreement is part of a set of agreements that the university is keen to conclude with many unions and institutions. He added that the signing with the Information Technology Syndicate, which was established in Palestine a year ago, is as a support for it in the presence of a large number of IT graduates who need a body that professionally represents and supports them”.

The University Celebrates Obtaining ABET and ADEE Accreditations for the Faculties of Dentistry and Engineering

The Arab American University recently celebrated obtaining two International accreditations from ABET in Computer Systems Engineering in the Faculty of Engineering and ADEE for the Faculty of Dentistry. The two work teams, who obtained the two accreditations, were rewarded.

The Internationally Refereed Scientific Journal Vaccines Publishes a Research by the Arab American University on the Spread of the Corona Virus Antibodies

The internationally refereed scientific journal Vaccines, which is classified as Q1 with an impact factor of 5, published a research by researchers from the Arab American University on the prevalence of coronavirus antibodies and the factors affecting them among adults in the West Bank.

The researchers from the university, Dr. Faisal Awartani (as a main author), Dr. Nawar Qutub, and Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, cooperated to publish the research on the prevalence of antibodies to the Corona virus in the Palestinian society and the factors affecting it in the internationally refereed journal Vaccines.

The Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) Accredits the Computer Systems Engineering Program at the Arab American University

The Computer Systems Engineering program at the Faculty of Engineering at the Arab American University has obtained the international academic accreditation from the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), an independent American body specialized in evaluating and assuring the quality of engineering, technology, and applied science programs worldwide.

Dean of the Faculty of Engineering, Prof. Dr. Hazem Khanfar, stated that the Faculty submitted a self-report on the program on 1/7/2021. The evaluation process started on 10/1/2021. After this evaluation process, a specialized professional academic team from ABET visited the university.

Two Teams of the University Students Win First and Third Places in a Competition Organized in Tunisia

A group of Arab American University students participated in a competition organized in Tunisia, entitled IEEE R8 Entrepreneurship Committee, at the IEEE R8 Student & Young Professional Congress 2022.

The University students participating in the competition were in two groups. The first team included "Lina Zahalka, Haitham Sharbati, and Noor Daraghmeh". This team was called GREENERS. The team won the first place. It presented an initiative to produce natural fertilizer by using carbon dioxide emissions and using it in the production process In order to reduce the proportion of harmful gases in the atmosphere and stimulate green spaces in the world.
