AAUP Holds an Academic Workshop for its Lecturers on its Campus in Ramallah

The office of the Arab American University Vice President for Planning, Development, and Quality held an academic workshop for faculty members at the university campus in Ramallah. The workshop aimed to inform them of the most important directions and strategies followed by the university to improve the academic process and raise the level of education quality.

Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Dean of Scientific Research, Prof. Dr. Mohammed Awad, and Director of the E-Learning Center at the University, Dr. Ahmad Ewais, gave lectures.

A Delegation from the Arab American University Visits the Minister of Local Government to Follow Up the Establishment of GIS Units in Municipalities

A delegation from the Arab American University visited the Minister of Local Government, Eng. Majdi Al-Saleh, in his office in Ramallah. During the visit, the delegation presented a framework plan for the establishment of GIS units in local government institutions classified (A and B), as a continuation of a decision announced by the Minister of Local Government in a scientific symposium organized At the University last June, in partnership with the Ministry, under the title "Palestinian Municipalities in Light of Modern Geographical Technologies: Where To?".

The decision stipulates the inclusion of GIS units in municipal structures in Palestine, within the framework of the Ministry's vision to keep pace with modern technical developments, especially those related to geographic technologies, to contribute to local administration, urban planning and organization, and smart decision-making to serve urban communities in Palestine.

"Personal and Job Skills for Palestinian Youth" Training Program Implemented by the British Otermans Foundation is Concluded

Hassib Sabbagh IT Center of Excellence at the Arab American University, in partnership with the British Otermans Foundation in cooperation with Al-Quds University, Palestine Polytechnic University, An-Najah National University, the Contractors Union, and the Pakistani Aljadid Manpower Services, concluded the funded training program "Personal and Job Skills for Palestinian Youth" that targeted students And graduates of Palestinian universities and young entrepreneurs from the Palestinian community.

The training program dealt with practical skills in preparing work reports in the English language, proper planning for projects and preparing the necessary reports, modern methods of how to lead and work within a team, and preparing personal goals to get a job.

AAUP Faculty of Nursing Receives the Initial US Accreditation for the Bachelor of Nursing Program

The Faculty of Nursing at the Arab American University obtained the initial American accreditation for the Bachelor of Nursing program from the American National Commission for the Accreditation of Nursing Educational Programs

NLN CNEA (National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation).

This accreditation is the result of the hard work and the great effort exerted by the faculty administration and the academic and administrative staff over the past years and as a result of the qualifications to apply for international accreditations, the most important of which is the availability of an appropriate and distinguished educational environment, advanced teaching methods that keep pace with technology and everything new in the field of nursing, and the presence of trained and qualified faculty members.

Defence of an M.A Thesis in Data Science and Business Analysis about the Role of Deep Machine Learning in the Detection and Classification of Heart Diseases

An MA student in the field of data science and business analysis at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University, Abdulhakeem Ahmed Al-Ardah, passed the defence of his thesis for obtaining the M.A degree. The thesis is entitled “Heart Disease Prediction & Disease Type Classification Using Machine Learning”

The thesis relied on merging heart disease databases, and an accurate and effective machine learning system to obtain high classification accuracy. The proposed research method included an initial stage to predict the existence of heart disease, followed by a smart classification to determine the type of heart disease using machine learning. The classification of the disease depends on the results in the initial stage.

Defence of an M.A Thesis in Data Science and Business Analysis on Classification of Skin Cancer Using Deep Learning Techniques

The student Hilal Abdel Raouf Assaf, a student of data science and business analysis at the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University, passed the discussion of his MA Thesis. The thesis is entitled:

 “Skin Cancer Classification Using Deep Learning Techniques”.

In his thesis, the researcher dealt with skin cancer through a global database. He could build a system that classifies skin tumours into malignant and benign tumours with high accuracy through the use of improved deep learning techniques.

His thesis was supervised by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Awad, Professor of Artificial Intelligence at the Arab American University.

AAUP Concludes a Cooperation Agreement with Premier Hospital for Specialized Surgery to Train Medical Students

The Arab American University in Ramallah and Premier Hospital for Specialized Surgery concluded a cooperation agreement in the field of training human medicine students, exchanging experiences in many medical fields, and conducting joint scientific research.

The agreement was signed by Prof. Dr. Ali Zedan Abu Zuhri, President of the University, and Mr. Jad Al-Taweel, Deputy Director General, representing the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Hospital, Dr. Jiab Al-Taweel. The conclusion of the agreement was attended by Vice President for Medical Faculties Affairs, Prof. Dr. Mohammad Asia, Dean of the Faculty of Human Medicine, Dr. Malik Zaben, General Manager of the University Company, Mr. Faleh Abu Arra, Director of the Medical Center, Dr. Jumana Jaradat, Director of the University Laboratories, Mr.

Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Muayad Abusaa, the Project Coordinator at the University, Dr. Amjad Rattroot, Miss. Hanan Nazzal, and Director of the Projects Department, Miss. Samah Khalaf participated. This project comes in response to the call of Erasmus projects (ERASMUS-EDU-2021-VIRT-EXCH).

A Delegation from the American Academic School Visits the Arab American University to Get Acquainted with it

A delegation from the American Academic School, located in the city of Nablus, visited the Arab American University to learn about it, its academic programs, and the admission and registration mechanism for students enrolled in international schools in Palestine. The delegation consisted of the Deputy Headmaster of the School, Miss. Mizna Al-Nabulsi and the Director of the Financial Department at the School, Aseel Al -Ahmed.

Dean of Admissions and Registration at the University, Dr. Rami Hodrob, welcomed the visiting delegation. He gave a detailed explanation about the University, its establishment, and majors in BA, MA, and PhD degrees. He also tackled the university's interests in academic development, scientific research, and provision of services to the local community. Besides, he indicated that there is student exchange with international universities.

A Team of AAUP Publishes a Research Article on Conducting Digital Forensic Analysis in WhatsApp

The student researcher Yaman Munthir Salim, Dr. Majdi Owda, and Dr. Amani Owda from the Natural, Engineering and Technological Sciences Department in the Faculty of Postgraduate Studies at the Arab American University published a research paper in the “International Journal of Cybersecurity and Digital Forensics”. The research paper is entitled

“An Experimental Approach for Locating WhatsApp Digital Forensics Artefacts on Windows 10 and the Cloud”.

The study aimed to conduct digital forensic analysis in the WhatsApp application, which is widely used by users legally sometimes and illegally at other times fields. It may also be used as a means of committing electronic crimes such as electronic espionage or data leakage and privacy penetration.

The research provides a guide for the digital investigator on how to deal with extracting important evidence from the WhatsApp application, which is valuable to help find suspects in cybercrimes.
