SDG5: Achieve gender equality and empower all women and girls
The university, through its policies and practices against all kinds of discrimination, works towards achieving gender equality and empowering women and girls, both students and staff. The role of the Arab American University in achieving equality is evident in the following aspects:
- The university does not use gender-based admission methods. Accordingly, the percentage of female students enrolled in higher education during the academic year 2022/2023 is (60%) of the total enrolled students.
- The university provides employment opportunities for females in all its departments and centers.
- The university allocates tasks and responsibilities to employees based on competence and skills, regardless of gender.
- Participation and contribution in organizing internal or external workshops and seminars, ensuring the participation of both genders, whether from the faculty, administration, or students.
- The university has female faculty members appointed in councils such as the Board of Trustees and the University Council. Additionally, some female employees hold senior positions within the university.
